Meeting someone for the first time from a dating website is always an exciting time. However, if you are planning on meeting someone soon, there are a few things you should consider first. How long have you been in email contact with that person from the dating website for? Usually it's best practice to familiarise yourself with them first by sending and receiving emails several times.

OK, so you have suggested to meet up. Choose a place that is quiet. I often recommend to meet in a coffee shop or a diner over a bar or pub so you can hear them OK. The conversation flow is the most important here. Make sure you dress neatly and comfortably but not formally if you don't feel that would be best. Make sure you pay attention to your hair and hygiene. Looking your best will always project a good impression. Just relax and be yourself and think ahead of time what you should ask:

1) Where did you go to school? Do you still keep in contact with any of your class mates?

2) Do you have any brothers or sisters? How old are they, and do they live nearby?

3) What food do you like? What drinks do you like and are there any similarities? Perhaps you like to cook? That is always a talent and is worth mentioning.

4) What sports, recreation or hobbies do you enjoy? See if there are commonalities. Finding a common interest can often spark great conversation.

And remember, it has often been said that you can sum up a person's general character in the first 10 seconds. Not to judge a book by its cover, but after the first 10 minutes you meet someone from a dating website you will nearly know whether or not this person is suitable for you or not. First impressions are so important, but remember, you want to give a real impression of who you are. You shouldn't aim to impress. And guys, I know offering to buy the girl a coffee is nice, but really you want to be able to read them. Don't give too much. I wouldn't suggest bringing flowers or chocolates this time until you get to know them.
