Writing your dating profile is your chance to really shine and explain to a wealth of singles who you are. This is where you sell your uniqueness to a market of quality and exciting people of all walks of life who are interested in what you are all about. Writing your dating profile should be an easy and exciting way to express who you really are. Write what your passions are. Then you are bound to attract the best people suited to you. Here are some simple yet often overlooked points to keep in mind during the writing of your dating profile to maximise your response:
1. Upload a good, clear picture and smile!
Statistically people with photos on their profiles get over 10 times the response of people who don't. Make sure your pictures look as much as possible like you. Clearly posting a high school photo if you are 35 is not a very good idea. Make sure there is plenty of light in the picture so your facial features are clearly visible, but not overexposed. Make sure you have a warm smile - This is very important. I know this sounds silly, but practise smiling in the mirror. Most times people don't like their own smile or photographs of themselves, but we all view ourselves differently than someone else would. Have you ever looked at someone who's good looking and they are smiling? You get a very warm feeling. Well this is what you want to give others.
2. Be specific with your wording
Writing your dating profile you should remember to be specific and detailed. Many profiles have information like "I like movies, a quiet night at home, going out occasionally, weekends away..." Then how would you differentiate one person from the other since nearly everybody likes those things? Being very general is the easiest trap to fall into and will not allow you to stand out from the crowd. Instead be specific. What was your favourite movie? Why was it your favourite? Was it the actor/actress? Was it what they said or did? Where do you like to go out occasionally? To dinner? If so, where, why, and when? You don't you like spicy food? Where is your favourite weekend away spot?... Do you get the picture?
3. Write your dating profile with good grammar, and articulation.
Write with professionalism.
You as a single person are on display with your single credentials. Trying to be slang or funny doesn't always work and most often people would like to see the plain side of who you really are.
4. Be honest
Writing your dating profile the honest way is the easiest thing to remember and the right thing to do. And if you don't like mushrooms, don't eat a pizza with them on it just because they want to order it. Let them know. Likewise, when you read someone's profile yourself, you would hope they are saying who they really are and what they do. Honesty is always the best policy.
5. Say what you want - Or sometimes what you don't want
From experience we know that it makes the dating adventure much more enjoyable if you find someone who you are likely to click with... Not just anyone who will accept a date with you. Why would someone want to meet you? - It isn't about being the best looking or having the best job or making the most money that is important to most people. It is about finding someone with similar interests and personalities to you and the likelihood that you both click!
6. Read through your dating profile carefully after writing it and use a spell checker if necessary.
As it was touched on in point 3, when writing your dating profile your educational standard is also on display. If you aren't the best speller, use a spell checker to proof read your profile text. Your profile will then look professional and sound and read well and you will project an educated knowledge, even if you aren't.
7. Write your dating profile with your objectives closely in mind - What exactly you are looking for in someone else? - Get to the point.
Searching profiles for the "right one" is difficult enough. As a visitor to someone's profile you want to know straight away what that person is all about. Are they looking for a long term relationship, short term relationship or just a friend? Consider your own information and be sure it really lines up with what you really want to find in someone else.
Writing your dating profile for an online personals site is the most exciting way to meet others and perfecting your profile is one of the most important keys to attracting the right person.
